Joseph hails this unbelievable year

-

TWO-TRY hero Jonathan Joseph hailed an “unbelievable” year after England made it 13 wins from 13 in 2016 at Twickenham yesterday.

The outside-centre scored the first and last of England’s four tries as Eddie Jones’ side overcame Australia to clinch a 14th straight victory.

Marland Yarde and man-ofthe-match Ben Youngs touched down in the opening 10 minutes of the second half for the hosts’ other tries.

Australia, who were denied three early tries by the TMO, took the lead through Sefanaia Naivalu’s touchdown and stayed in the game via Sekope Kepu’s 65th-minute try.

Joseph, a major part of England’s 100% year, said: “It feels unbelievable. It’s been a tough year but the boys have worked massively hard. It’s well deserved. The boys are ready for a rest now.”

On England’s slow start, Joseph said: “I think we were disappointed with how we started but the resilience we showed to bounce back... 20 minutes in, we really bounced back in the set piece in the first half and we played flat, on the line.”

Joseph’s first try on 30 minutes, chasing Owen Farrell’s kick to score, began the recovery.

“Faz did a great option in getting off the line and kicking the ball forward. Luckily that’s my job, I have to be up with him, he kicked it nicely,” Joseph said.
