Lichties’ last-gasp penalty clincher

COWDEN went ahead in 26 minutes. Cammy Muirhead was fouled by Stuart Malcolm and Fraser Mullen’s free-kick flew high over Grant Adam.

But four minutes later the leaders were level when Jamie Bain’s cross was headed home from 10 yards out by Lewis Milne.

Four minutes from the break the visitors went ahead when Gavin Swankie’s 16-yarder flew high past Dave McGurn.

However, ten minutes into the second period Cowdenbeat­h levelled. Mullen’s curled effort from 30 yards bounced awkwardly over Adam.

After 67 minutes, Kris Renton ran through and fired past Adam from 14 yards but Forfar hit back three minutes later with a fine finish from Josh Peters nine yards out. Then, in time added on, Forfar grabbed the winner through a fine finish from Gavin Swankie.

BERWICK RANGERS 1 MONTROSE 2

MONTROSE made it two wins out of two under new manager Stewart Petrie.

The breakthrou­gh had to wait until the second half when Ryan Ferguson slammed the ball into the net to give Montrose the lead after 56 minutes. Eight minutes later, Rangers got themselves back on level terms when Darren Lavery made a break through the middle and slipped the ball for McKenna to net as he cut in from the left.

Montrose regained the initiative after 79 minutes when substitute Chris Templeman crossed from the left and another substitute, Jonny Court, glanced in a header.

CLYDE 0 EDINBURGH CITY 0

CLYDE and Edinburgh City could not find the net at Broadwood and had to settle for a point apiece.

City missed the best opening of the first half when a corner landed at the feet of Ouzy See 12 yards out. However, he blasted high over. Peter MacDonald thought he had snatched a a late winner for the hosts. However, an offside flag cut short their celebratio­ns.

STIRLING ALBION 3 ANNAN ATHLETIC 1

ANNAN made a dream start when Max Wright converted a first-minute penalty after Ross Smith had carelessly brought down Aidan Smith.

The Binos levelled in 13 minutes when Angus Beith’s shot was deflected past keeper Blair Currie by team-mate Darren Smith.

Albion were in front four minutes later after skipper Ross McMillan headed home a Darren Petrie corner.

Dave Mackay’s men made the game safe in 75 minutes when substitute Dylan Nguene Bikey fired home a low drive.
