Lawrence denies Imps a huge win

-

NATIONAL LEAGUE leaders Lincoln City nearly produced a huge shock at Championship side Ipswich, but have at least earned another crack at the Tractor Boys following a pulsating a 2-2 draw.

Theo Robinson fired the visitors ahead after just seven minutes, slotting home Nathan Arnold’s cross, but Tom Lawrence restored parity five minutes later.

Robinson bagged his second after 65 minutes to put the Imps, who were backed by 5,000 fans at Portman Road, on the verge of a historic win, only for Lawrence to grab a late equaliser.

Josh Emmanuel’s last-ditch tackle on Alex Woodyard then saved Town, with the City midfielder ready to pull the trigger at the death.

Stourbridge came agonisingly close to claiming a draw at Wycombe after Dan Scarr had cancelled out Sam Wood’s opener, but Adebayo Akinfenwa’s late goal sent the Chairboys through.

Sutton United drew 0-0 with AFC Wimbledon to earn a replay, while fellow National League side Eastleigh were thrashed 5-1 at Brentford, with all six goals coming in the first half – two of them from Tom Field.

Ian Henderson scored twice for Rochdale to ensure they avoided a banana skin at Barrow.

Oxford caused an upset as they beat Championship strugglers Rotherham 3-2, with Ryan Taylor, Phil Edwards and Kane Hemmings on target, while Nottingham Forest’s poor run continued as they succumbed 2-0 at Wigan, with Will Grigg and Yannick Wildschut on target for the Latics.

Omar Beckles fired Accrington into the fourth round for the first time in seven years as Stanley overcame fellow League Two side Luton 2-1.

Luton’s Jake Gray had earlier matched Sean McConville’s strike.

Championship high-fliers Brighton saw off MK Dons 2-0, with goals from Beram Kayal and Tomer Hemed, while Huddersfield scored three goals in the last 17 minutes to sink Port Vale 4-0 – Jack Payne bagging a brace in the process.

Bristol City and Fleetwood played out a goalless draw, as did Blackpool and Barnsley.
