Jan 16, 1957: Alan Sytner opens The Cavern Club, naming it after a Paris jazz club.
July, 1957: Ringo Starr (then Richard Starkey) makes his debut there, playing with the Eddie Clayton Skiffle Group.
Aug, 1957: The Quarry Men, including John Lennon, perform there. Paul joins the band two months later and first plays The Cavern in January 1958.
Feb, 1961: The Beatles’ first performance at The Cavern.
Aug, 1963: The last of The Beatles’ 292 concerts at the venue.
Feb, 1966: Owners are declared bankrupt and the club closes.
July, 1966: PM Harold Wilson officially re-opens the extended Cavern.
Nov, 1972: Suzi Quatro is the last major recording artist to perform before the club closes.
May, 1973: The Cavern Club shuts and is relocated across the road, two weeks before bulldozers demolish the original.
Apr, 1984: The Cavern Club reopens, having been rebuilt brick by brick.
Dec, 1989: The club loses its licence and is closed following a serious assault that led to jail sentences for the owners.
July, 1991: The Cavern opens again, run by Dave Jones and Bill Heckle.
Dec, 1999: Paul McCartney performs a concert at The Cavern.
May, 2001: Lonnie Donegan makes his Cavern debut.
Jan, 2011: Adele plays at the venue.
