Quokka carry on as Steve flees

SPARE a thought for Steve, currently missing and deemed at risk from traffic and predators.

Steve is a quokka and is at large in Australia.

What’s a quokka, I hear you ask.

Well, it’s like a giant, oversized rat. Or maybe even a mini kangaroo.

The little marsupials live on a rubbish barge on Rottnest Island, but last week one of the little guys (that’ll be Steve) was spotted at a recycling facility in suburban Perth.

Australian Police have now issued an escaped prisoner-style appeal, describing the runaway as “small, cute and furry”.

As a reward, anyone who turns Steve in will be offered a free trip to Rottnest Island.

Steve, unfortunately, won’t be returning home if found in case he exposes the other quokkas to health risks.

He will, instead, live a life of luxury at a wildlife park.
