JANUARY 15, 1889 The Coca-Cola Company, then known as the Pemberton Medicine Co. was incorporated in Atlanta, USA.
Going on to sell other soft drinks in addition to Coca-Cola, it even added bottled water to its range.
It went from strength to strength and one share of stock purchased in 1919 for $40, with all dividends reinvested, would be worth more than $10 million today.
JANUARY 16, 1945 Adolf Hitler moved into his Berlin bunker.
Known as the Fuhrerbunker, it was an underground air raid shelter.
It became the centre of the Nazi regime until the end of the war in Europe and was where he married Eva Braun, shortly before they committed suicide.
JANUARY 17, 1983 Britain woke up to breakfast TV.
The BBC’s Breakfast Time programme aired at 6.30am and was presented by Frank Brough and former ITN newsreader Selina Scott.
The idea caught on and paved the way for other shows such as TV:am and The Big Breakfast.
JANUARY 19, 1988 Disabled author Christopher Nolan won the Whitbread Prize.
His achievement was all the more impressive due to the fact that he was unable to move or speak because of an accident when he was born.
JANUARY 20, 1961 JFK was sworn in as US President.
He would serve for less than three years before he was assassinated on November 22, 1963, while he was on an official visit to Dallas.
