Nick warns Dundee to be

NICK ROSS last night admitted Dundee are in danger of being dragged into a relegation dogfight.

The Dark Blues crashed 3-0 at Aberdeen on Friday night and face a crucial clash with bottom side Inverness Caley Thistle on Saturday.

After two defeats from two games since returning from the winter break, Ross knows Dundee have not been at the races.

And the midfield star isn’t kidding himself about the seriousnes­s of the situation.

“We’ve talked about the top six but we maybe need to start looking behind us as well, because we’re not picking up points,” admitted Ross.

“We need to get points on the board, and Inverness away is one of the toughest fixtures you can get. We will need to be on our game for that. I know the type of character (Inverness boss) Richie Foran is and he will have his players fired up.

“It’s so tight at the bottom of the table, it’s hard to predict who, if anyone, will be cut adrift.

“We just need to keep ourselves out of it by putting points on the board.

“The last two games in particular have been disappoint­ing. We haven’t created enough chances and our defending hasn’t been up to standard.

“We’ll have to look at those things because Inverness away is a tough game.”

Were it not for goalkeeper Scott Bain’s heroics, Friday’s 3-0 loss could have been far worse.

The Dee stopper pulled off a series of stunning saves to deny the rampant Dons a greater margin of victory.

Ross was not surprised by the quality of Bain’s performanc­e.
