Ferguson finish is good for Montrose

-

Berwick, celebrating the 50th anniversary of beating Rangers in the Scottish Cup, had the early chances and, in 11 minutes, a shot from Steven Thomson was cleared off the home line.

The Gable Endies went close in 29 minutes when a header from Greg Pascazio went just wide.

Berwick took the lead in 51 minutes when a shot from Michael McKenna found its way through a crowded goalmouth and into the net.

Montrose threw men forward and equalised in 61 minutes. Terry Masson swung in a corner and Chris Templeman rose to head home.

The home side went in front in 69 minutes. Brian Martin was short with a passback and Ryan Ferguson ran in to score.

Late on, Berwick’s Pat Scullion missed a sitter from close in.

FORFAR 3 COWDENBEATH 1

FORFAR’S David Cox had a chance to put the home side ahead in the 11th minute but dragged his shot wide.

The visitors took the lead in the 16th minute when Dale Carrick powered a close-range header into the Forfar net.

There was a 15-minute delay to the start of the second half after referee Colin Steven picked up a calf strain and was unable to continue.

The game turned in the space of 60 seconds on the 53-minute mark as Forfar keeper Grant Adam made a point-blank stop to deny Carrick. Forfar broke upfield and Josh Peters hit a cross that soared over the head of keeper David McGurn for the equaliser.

As conditions worsened in the snow, Forfar took the lead in the 69th minute. A Lewis Milne corner was met at the far post by Tam O’Brien and his header arched into the opposite corner.

Milne himself then put some distance between the sides in the 77th minute with a scorching drive from 25 yards which seemed to fly through the hands of the goalkeeper.

CLYDE 1 ARBROATH 2

AFTER Clyde No. 2 Bob Malcolm was sent to the stand by the referee after a spat with a linesman, Arbroath took the lead on 26 minutes when keeper John Gibson failed to deal with a header and Colin Hamilton prodded home.

The equaliser came on 65 minutes as Peter MacDonald nodded in from six yards.

On 72 minutes, Ryan Finnie was sent off for two bookings.

The Lichties winner came soon after when Bobby Linn curled over a free-kick and Ricky Little headed in.

ELGIN CITY 3 EDINBURGH CITY 1

SHANE SUTHERLAND latched on to a Brian Cameron pass to open the scoring on 15 minutes with a firm finish under keeper Andrew Stobie.

Sutherland struck again on 42 minutes with a tap-in.

Edinburgh sub Craig Beattie scored with 20 minutes left, a good finish with the outside of his boot from Josh Walker’s pass.

But, three minutes later, Sutherland was tripped in the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Sutherland converted for his 23rd of the season.

ANNAN 4 STIRLING ALBION 1

FORMER Annan player Blair Henderson fired Albion ahead on seven minutes.

On the interval, Smart Osadolor hit the equaliser after being set up by Rabin Omar.

In the 56th minute, Osadolor put the home side ahead when he slotted the ball home after heavy pressure.

In the 75th minute, Maxwell Wright made it 3-1 when he smashed a 15-yarder past the Binos keeper.

In time added, Wright netted again with a header.
