BERWICK RANGERS 4 ANNAN 1

BERWICK led after 13 minutes when leading scorer Steven Thomson forced the ball home from close range.

On 19 minutes, it was 2-0 when Thomson scored again, his shot taking a deflection after Greg Rutherford broke through.

Annan pulled one back on 26 minutes when Peter Weatherson netted from a free-kick.

Kevin McKinlay was forced to leave the field after 34 minutes after picking up a knock and was replaced by Jordan Orru.

Berwick got lucky when Annan hit the post and Pat Scullion cleared off the line from Smart Osadolor.

The second half was poor by comparison with neither side able to make any inroads.

Thomson had a great chance to complete his hat-trick but failed to convert properly from seven yards out, then Rutherford shot straight at Blair Currie.

The game was made safe in the 86th minute when Orru slammed the ball home.

Thomson then secured the match ball with a 30-yard strike, which was still rising as it hit the back of the net.

EDINBURGH CITY 0 CLYDE 0

FORMER Middlesbrough and Watford midfielder Josh Walker made his home debut for City, who were first to threaten when Ousman See dispossessed Ewan McNeil in the fifth minute but saw his lob saved by Clyde goalkeeper John Gibson.

Clyde, without a league win since November, responded with a curling shot from Marc McKenzie which was tipped over the bar by Andrew Stobie.

Both sides had chances during the second half, the Bully Wee almost edging ahead when Peter MacDonald’s close range header was saved superbly by Stobie in 66 minutes before Mark McConnell blasted his shot wide from close range at the other end.
