BLACKPOOL ended a six-game unbeaten league run in emphatic style as they battered promotionchasing Carlisle at Brunton Park.

The Tangerines took a 33rd-minute lead through Brad Potts, arriving late in the box to steer home Colin Daniel’s cross and their second came in the 56th minute when Luke Joyce was caught in possession in his own half and Jordan Flores strode forward to fire home a fierce effort from 22 yards.

Carlisle pulled one back when sub Jabo Ibehre nodded home Gary Liddle’s cross after 69 minutes.

But another error at the back cost Carlisle dear when Liddle was robbed by Sanmi Odelusi who had the simple task of rolling ball into the empty net.

Nathan Delfouneso put the icing on the cake with a fourth goal, four minutes from time.

Morecambe veteran Kevin Ellison scored two goals in five minutes to help his side pick up their second successive win as they beat Cambridge 2-0.

Ellison opened the scoring five minutes into the second half when Michael Duckworth saw his close range effort superbly saved by Will Norris, but the fell fell perfectly for Ellison to volley home.

The home side doubled the lead five minutes later when Ellison was again in the right place at the right time to put the ball into the empty net after Norris could only parry Paul Mullin’s effort.

Hartlepool crashed to a 4-0 defeat at play-off chasing Mansfield. Ben Whiteman opened the scoring – with the Stags’ 3000th home League goal – before Danny Rose doubled the lead.

Sub Alex MacDonald made it 3-0 after half-time, before Whiteman grabbed his second of the match to put Hartlepool out of their misery.
