IAN CATHRO switched Hearts’ January recruitmen­t strategy from boys to men.

Now he wants his beefed-up Jam Tarts to bring Hibs’ reign as Scottish Cup holders to the end of the road.

Cathro swooped for nine new signings during the transfer window, only two of whom were younger than 25.

His new-look side quickly racked up impressive wins over Rangers and Motherwell. And the Jambos boss reckons Hearts have benefited hugely from an injection of maturity.

Cathro said: “I feel more comfortabl­e going into the derby with the group we’ve got now.

“We had to bring in men. We wanted guys with experience­s of positives and negatives in their lives.

“But we’ve brought in good people as well as good players.”

Hearts were knocked out of the Cup by their Edinburgh rivals last year.

It took Hibs, who eventually won the tournament, two games to get the job done. But that has not put Cathro off watching the entire tie.

“I was up all night the other night watching both games, back to back, and a lot has changed,” he said.

“There are a lot of different players, maybe less so on Hibs’ side.

“Of course, you appreciate what this game brings but we also know that whatever we do in this game, nothing makes up for previous games.” So why bother watching them? “Sometimes you know that the game is starting to go in another way, so you
