Two are red-carded in a fiery encounter

-

Leaue leaders Forfar took the lead after only six minutes. A corner was floated high into the box and keeper Mark Waters struggled to gather under pressure from David Cox. As the ball bobbled in the crowded goalmouth, Josh Peters got a final touch.

Danny Denholm was denied Forfar’s second at the start of the second half when he stormed into the box and fired in a shot that was brilliantly turned away by Waters.

At the other end, Grant Adam pulled of an equally-impressive save to deny Shane Sutherland from 18 yards.

City equalised in the 65th minute when Brian Cameron slammed home a rocket shot after the ball dropped perfectly for him just inside the area.

Lewis Milne was inches away from restoring Forfar’s lead but their job was made harder in the 77th minute when Eddie Malone was shown a straight red for a bad lunge at Sutherland.

But the numbers were soon evened up when David Brownlie also saw red for a second booking.

Elgin’s luck was out when Sutherland beat Adam with a well-placed shot, only for the ball to roll along the line via both posts.

STIRLING ALBION 2 BERWICK 2

BERWICK went ahead after six minutes when Lee Hamilton forced home a corner from a close range.

They deservedly went in 2-0 up at the break when on-loan Dundee United forward Aaron Murrell made space in the box and found the corner with a cool finish in 34 minutes.

Albion were slightly better after the break but Greg Rutherford missed two glorious chances to score a third goal for Berwick on the break — and they paid the price.

Trialist Aiden Malone, previously with Queen’s Park, pulled one back with a simple finish after being picked out by Darren Smith.

Then Sean

Dickson

struck

a perfectly-placed shot into the corner to equalise with two minutes left.

The home side almost won it in stoppage time but Blair Henderson saw his effort headed off the line.

MONTROSE 1 ARBROATH 3

MONTROSE had the wind in the first half and took the lead in 26 minutes. A Ryan Ferguson cross wasn’t cleared and Matty Smith coolly sidefooted home.

Montrose looked for more and a Terry Masson shot was deflected wide. From the corner, Chris Templeman had a header deflected over.

Arbroath levelled in 55 minutes when a Ryan McCord corner was headed home by Matty Smyth.

Five minutes later, a back-header from Bobby Linn clipped the Montrose crossbar.

Arbroath went 2-1 up in 71 minutes when Ryan McCord curled a free-kick into the corner.

Graham Webster went close for Montrose but, with 90 minutes on the clock, the visitors hit on the break and Omar Kader squeezed a shot home to secure the victory.

ANNAN ATH 1 EDINBURGH CITY 0

IT was end to end in the opening spell with Darren Ramsay firing past for Annan early on, then City’s Aaron Dunsmore went close with two shots.

Peter Weatherson almost netted in 10 minutes but his shot was stopped by Andrew Stobie.

But he could do nothing in the 15th minute when the veteran striker fired home from just outside the box.

In the second half, City’s Ryan Porteous hit a great shot on 68 minutes, which was stopped by keeper Blair Currie. A minute later, Marc Laird fired over. In the dying seconds, Josh Walker went close from 10 yards.
