IT’S 30 years since St Mirren lifted the Scottish Cup and Jack Ross says the Buddies can dream again.

Ross’s side advanced to the quarter-finals by seeing off East Fife at Bayview in a thrilling cup tie.

The St Mirren gaffer said: “We’re only two games from the final and when you get to this stage, you should believe you can go and win the competition.”

St Mirren notched the game’s opener with their first real attempt.

East Fife weren’t able to clear their lines and when the ball broke to Cammy Smith he fired past Ryan Goodfellow.

That was cruel on East Fife but they restored parity early in the second half when Ross Brown was bundled over in the box by Harry Davis and ref Don Robertson pointed to the spot.

Chris Duggan stepped up and sent Billy O’Brien the wrong way.

Saints upped it a gear and introduced Lewis Morgan.

The sub had barely been on the park a few minutes when he put St Mirren ahead again by finishing off a neat move.

The tie was wrapped up in the closing moments with the goal of the match when Morgan got his double by curling a sublime effort beyond Goodfellow.

With literally the last kick of the game Duggan scored his second penalty of the match when Insall was impeded in the box.
