Going for a song
WITH a crunch by-election due in Copeland, most voters would expect Labour’s troops to be singing the praises of the party’s would-be MP Gillian Troughton.
But it seems some members in the north of England are instead busy forming a pro-Jeremy Corbyn choir to support the embattled leader at public speaking engagements in the region.
The news sounded a sour note with some, who claim knocking on voters’ doors is key to victory.
“Everyone knows that singing from the same hymn sheet isn’t possible in a Labour Party led by Jeremy Corbyn, but this idea is several sopranos short of a choir,” said one Labour Party insider.
