Charming reply

IN response to Maryse Payen-Roy, I remember well the practice of charms in a dumpling.

Charms were also put in birthday cakes. I think there were about six in a packet.

I don’t remember individual charms, but it was quite exciting when you were given your slice of dumpling or cake and got a charm!

They were wrapped in baking paper, so when you spotted that, you knew your luck was in!
