NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1 Osborn (60) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 2 Abdi (28), Forestieri (52)

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY maintained their playoff push with a fourth consecutive league victory as Nottingham Forest were beaten at the City Ground.

Goals from Almen Abdi and Fernando Forestieri either side of half-time put Wednesday into a 2-0 lead as Ross McCormack missed a penalty for Forest at 0-0.

Although Ben Osborn pulled one back for the Reds with half an hour left, Forest rarely threatened for an equaliser.

It was the home side who came closest to opening the scoring, as they flew out of the blocks with teenager Ben Brereton threatening, and his through ball saw McCormack brought down in the box by Keiren Westwood, but the keeper redeemed himself to save the 27thminute spot kick.

Within a minute the visitors had taken the lead with a spectacular goal from Abdi and Forestieri doubled the lead just after the break as Forest struggled to clear their lines.

Forest did pull one back in the 60th minute after Brereton set up Osborn, and the former went close to securing a draw with a header that just dropped wide, but Wednesday held firm to secure three points.
