NEWS the cast of the hit movie Love Actually are to reunite for Comic Relief brings to mind the political connection in romcom king Richard Curtis’ work.

Curtis apparently had a crush on one Anne Strutt back in the day, but the ridiculously well-connected object of his affection chose to marry Bernard Jenkin instead.

He’s now an arch Eurosceptic Tory MP celebrating Brexit, she sits in the Lords as Baroness Jenkin.

And Curtis took his revenge by giving every dolt, buffoon and upper class twit in his work, including Nursie in Blackadder II, the same name . . . Bernard.
