THE CHAMPIONSHIP

-

HIBS coach Neil Lennon slammed his team’s poor attitude after the Championship leaders twice had to come from behind to rescue a draw with Dumbarton.

Lennon accused the players of only giving 30% in a first half that saw them trailing to Christian Nade’s penalty.

A half-time ear-bashing from Lennon sparked an improvement and Hibs levelled when Sons defender Daniel Harvie scored an own goal.

Robert Thomson then fired Dumbarton back in front before Hibs striker James Keatings had a penalty saved.

But Sons keeper Alan Martin went from hero to zero after his 83rd minute blunder allowed Martin Boyle to snatch a point.

Lennon, whose side have won only one league game in six matches, said: “We were pedestrian, clumsy, sloppy, all the things we gave them warnings about before the game, and they just go out and do it.

“We gave them all the warnings how to approach it. “Then we go at 30%. “I’m not even sure if they had a sweat on at half-time, but they did after I finished with them.”

A dull first half was livened up when Nade put the visitors in front in the 37th minute from the penalty spot after Marvin Bartley was penalised for a rash challenge on Andy Stirling inside the area.

Hibs were a different side after the break and duly levelled when Harvie unwittingly diverted John McGinn’s cross into his own net from close range.

But incredibly, the parttimers retook the lead five minutes later.

Martin’s kick out was knocked down by Nade and Thomson drilled a first time shot into the corner of net.

The drama wasn’t over there.

Hibs were handed a lifeline when referee Gavin Duncan pointed to the spot in the 69th minute after Grant Holt appeared to be pulled down by Darren Barr.

Keating’s stepped up but his strike was brilliantly pushed clear by the outstretched Martin.

There was action off the pitch too as Nade appeared to lash out at Jordon Forster when the pair clashed in the Hibs technical area after the ball went out for a throw-in.

Both players were booked and Nade was immediately replaced by Garry Fleming.

But Sons keeper Martin was guilty of a horror error that allowed Boyle to level in 83rd minute.

The former Scotland Under-21 cap dropped a long ball forward and Boyle reacted quickest to head an effort into the unguarded net.
