Keeley says animals are stars of show

-

PRIMETIME TV star Keeley Hawes has said she’s well aware she plays second fiddle to animals on hit ITV show The Durells.

The actress, returning to our screens tonight as scatter-brained matriarch Louisa Durell, said the real stars of the show are the animals.

Speaking in an interview yesterday she said: “It’s all about the animals – I’ve resigned myself to that.

“And we’ve upped the animal ante this series with three times the number we had last year.”

The 41-year-old added the crew have named a seagull who makes an appearance in the show after a familar Hollywood hardman.

She said: “We have a bird called Steven Seagull. He’s quite serious.”
