Family ties stressful for Michel Jr

CELEBRITY chef Michel Roux Jr has spoken about the struggles of having a father famed for his cuisine.

Speaking in an interview yesterday, Michel – who now runs the famous La Gavroche restaurant his dad Albert opened – said being part of a “family dynasty can be your ball and chain”.

The French chef, whose daughter Emily is also a cook in the family business, said: “I’ve got mixed feelings about being part of it.

“It was ridiculously daunting taking over from my father, wanting to do my own thing but being respectful of the institution that Le Gavroche already was.

“And then there was the friction, him not wanting to let go, me wanting to take over.”
