My favourite TV ‘couple’

-

SO Broadchurch has finished and, disappointingly, there was no sign of Hardy and Miller getting together.

I always hoped these two lost souls would walk off hand-in-hand into the sunset.

Olivia Coleman’s portrayal of tear-stained Ellie was flawless and David Tennant went the full “Braveheart” as Alec.

He couldn’t have been any more Scottish if he’d been wearing a tartan bonnet while eating a haggis supper and quaffing Irn-Bru.

They were both brilliant and, although series two and three couldn’t live up to the impossibly high standard of the first, this was TV drama at its finest.

You can never go wrong with Julie Hesmondhalgh in the cast and, as always, the writing and direction were spot-on.

At least we still have Line Of Duty. I simply can’t wait for tonight’s episode (BBC1, 9pm).

It’s been a real roller-coaster ride and impossible to second-guess.
