‘The appeals system stinks!’

-

“I HAVE been reading your articles on parking.

“I was caught out last February in the Oasis car park in Corby, Northants.

“My wife usually goes to pay the parking fee but on this occasion I did it. I paid the 50p, entered my registration number but did not press the button for my ticket. I was parked for only 20 minutes.

“It so happened that we were going on holiday. When we arrived back, I had a parking fine for £30.

“I appealed against it and waited for a decision which never came. “They didn’t even answer. “The next letter I received was a demand for £120.

“I again tried to tell the car park company what had happened, but they wouldn’t listen. I had to pay up.

“Now I make sure I have a ticket and keep it for a couple of months before discarding it.

“The appeals system of these car park firms stinks.” – Norman Gibb.

“I AM very angry at these parking fees. I have had three, all for parking in my sister’s parking space at her house – which she pays for.

“I totally ignored them. I tell my friends that the firms only keep sending letters if you acknowledge who you are and that you know what they are talking about.

“If you ignore them, they aren’t sure they have the correct address and eventually give up.

“It’s not a fine, anyway. It is a payment they have dreamed up.

“If we all stand together and just keep saying no, then they’ll get the message that they can’t treat people this way. – John Findlay, name and address supplied.
