Michael’s mare to justify name

- By Reg Moore SELECTIONS

SHENEEDEDTHERUN probably did, when fourth at Southwell last time out and Michael Scudamore’s mare can cash in at Wetherby.

The seven-year-old was only having her second run over hurdles, when beaten nine lengths behind Martin Keighley’s Brillare Momento.

That winner really elevated the form on Thursday, when winning a listed event at Cheltenham by a neck, from Alan King’s 139-rated mare, Dusky Legend.

On a weak-looking, mares -only maiden, the selection would appear to have the Twiston-Davies debutant, Celestial Dancer, to beat and should do.

Pam Sly likes to have a winner at Wetherby and Mortens Leam might oblige in the opening apprentice handicap over two miles.

The five-year-old has been racing over further in his previous races and the drop back to the minimum trip looks logical, with Harry Bannister up.

Today will be just his third race this year and the third place behind Suggestion last time, over today’s course and distance, suggests he may improve.

Michael Scudamore’s Dinsdale has the best form on offer in the two-mile novice hurdle, if we can take his last two outings, as being reliable.
