COVE fought a vain attempt to retain their title with a victory over Lossiemouth but, in the end, they required a 20-0 victory due to Buckie’s scoring exploits.

Mitch Megginson opened the scoring in eight minutes after cutting in from the left and slotting the ball just inside Darren McConnachie’s right post.

Ten minutes late,r it was Megginson again as he followed the path of a Stuart McKenzie goal-kick, allowed the ball to sit up for himself and again tucked it inside the goalkeeper’s right post.

Blair Yule and Megginson had opportunities to increase the lead but the one sided contest continued as Yule had the easy task of prodding home a Daniel Park inswinging corner from the lift with the Coasters defence all at sea.

Five minutes after the restart, Park’s inviting ball into the box was deflected into his own net by Bryan Bell.

Substitute Johnny Smith then headed a cross by Ryan Stott on to the post.

The final goal came six minutes from time, Megginson completing his hat-trick with a deflected shot from the edge of the box.
