Took time to put photo up

-

Dear June

MY mother passed away 32 years ago aged 48 and my father 12 years ago.

I have just been able to put a photo of them in my living room without being too upset.

Do you think they would have been aware of why I could not put a photo up sooner? Nancy, via email.

Our parents are very special to us and the loss of both is a hard grief to bear.

They were a huge part of our lives and I am sure at one time we would never have imagined life without them supporting and surrounding us with their unconditional love.

Our parents teach us about life and love and offer us protection and encouragement when life seems hard.

When we lose both parents, we can feel quite vulnerable when faced with life’s pressures.

Those of us lucky enough to have had loving parents would look to them for advice and support. We would know if everything went wrong we could always go home as, no matter what, we were loved.

When both parents are gone and older family members dwindle, we look up to find there is no one to support us and when we look down we see those younger members are looking up at us for support – such is life’s circle.

Your parents will know exactly how you felt about their photo and why you couldn’t put it up until now.

Although we can no longer see our parents, they are as close as they always were, watching, protecting, loving and supporting us every day.
