Domtaline tips us the Winks

- By Reg Moore SELECTIONS

DOMTALINE remains a welltreated runner at Kelso this afternoon, despite having been reassessed following a Carlisle victory for Peter and Ryan Winks.

However, the handicapper does seem to have been a little lenient, with just a 3lb rise for beating Final Countdown by two and threequarter lengths.

The 10-year-old takes a small step up in grade today. But to counteract that, he has been competing favourably off far-higher marks over fences in the last year.

The son of the father-andson Winks’ team takes off a handy 5lb and, in what looks a fairly routine Class 3 event, Domtaline still looks on a good mark.

Tom George brings Champagne City on a 660mile round trip from Slad, in Gloucestershire, and should earn the fuel money from the opening novice hurdle.

Raced just once, the fouryear-old travels up after being 11-and-a-half-lengths fourth to Talent To Amuse at Newton Abbot, the winner rated 129 and the second 125.

The ex-Mark Johnston flat racer won off 91 at Ripon two years ago and was lightly raced in 2016. At four years old he can win eased in grade today.

Vancouver dropped a big hint at Newton Abbot, that his turn was about to come in his last run, when he got going just a little too late to have a real say

Under 7lb claimer, Philip Donovan, the lightly-raced five-year-old finished strongly, after losing ground turning into the straight, and will be more street wise now.
