Her deputy, Ian Paisley Jnr, quipped: “The future’s orange”.

For them, it was jocular satire, for us, it was an unfunny truth.

Desperate to hold on to power, PM May has allowed herself to be duped by the intolerant DUP, throwing the NI Peace process into real peril.

As my Irish friend shrewdly remarked: “We always have a problem for every solution.”
