It’s a new Raw Deal record!

-

RAW DEAL likes to solve problems as fast as possible, but we reckon we’ve created a new personal best.

We took up Helen Forbes complaint at 3.20 on the afternoon of June 15. By 4.45 that same afternoon, Helen had been contacted by BT to be told her complaint was to be upheld and an £83.65 bill had been cleared.

Helen had ordered a broadband package in February. The deal was that while the paraphernalia arrived on February 7, the installation would be done by a workman the following day.

However, when it transpired that drilling through the house wall would have to be done, Helen decided against the whole idea – her husband was gravely ill and she didn’t want the noise to upset him.

She rang BT and explained the situation. BT were understanding and agreed to cancel the deal.

However, the SIM card that was part of the package was already inside Helen’s phone and registered to her.

BT said she that could keep this for a month, but the BT kit that had been delivered (minus the SIM card) was uplifted.

Helen got a bill for £14 in April, which she paid thinking it was for the use of the SIM.

But then she got a bill for £4.94, marked “final reminder”. Helen was worried.

She spent an hour and 50 minutes in an onlinechatwith various BT operatives who promised they would help.

Butthen she got another bill, this time for £83.65!

Bythistime her husband had sadly passed away. It was all becoming a little alarming and that was when she contacted Raw Deal. We acted fast and BT acted fast. A BT spokesperson said: “We were very sorry to hear about the issues affecting Mrs Forbes. We’ve looked at where things went wrong and apologised for her experience. All the charges have been removed.”

Helen said: “I can’t believe it – Raw Deal has resolved the problem! I got a phone call and email and the invoice for £83.65 has been cleared.

“I will be telling family and friends of your quick response and will sing the praises of The Sunday Post.

“Many thanks, and no more sleepless nights.”
