Sarah and Andrew’s solid family success
IT was interesting to see Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson head for Balmoral last week to spend a holiday with their daughter Eugenie.
Fergie is back in the pack. She’s been accepted (if tentatively) into the Royal circle again.
But is that so different from what happens in many families after a divorce?
There’s often a period of tension, anger and disappointment all round when a couple decide to end their marriage.
But Sarah and Andrew have achieved a real, solid success in “co-parenting” their daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie.
Both are very close to their mum and dad and clearly enjoy each other’s company.
So often after a divorce, families fragment because of feelings of bitterness.
Yes, relationships end and people feel hurt and angry for a time, but surely it’s possible to learn to put your feelings to one side and keep things positive and workable for the sake of your children who love both of you?
A tough challenge, I know, but if you can do it, the results will be worth it. I believe both Sarah and Andrew enjoy co-parenting their girls. Mind you, Fergie also enjoys the bonus of her Royal connections and has been known to make use of them many times.
But if her in-laws accept that and her ex-husband and daughters are enjoying the togetherness, does that really matter?
