Mystery of the precious parcel

THERE is nothing worse than losing something that is precious to you.

Claire Osborne, of Port Glasgow sent a parcel to her son, Christophe­r, in Peckham, London, in January. It contained framed concert tickets that are of immense sentimenta­l value to them.

The parcel was carried by a combinatio­n of Parcels2Go and Yodel. But it didn’t make it to London. Claire, in Scotland, and Christophe­r, in England, made inquiries asking what had happened to it, but Parcels2Go and Yodel kept passing the buck to each other.

Claire wishes they’d passed the parcel to each other a bit quicker! But there was no sign of it. Claire even made the 40-mile journey to the Glasgow depot in an attempt to discover its whereabout­s.

She spent two hours reviewing CCTV footage of the day the parcel was sent.

And there it was! There was footage of it on the conveyor belt, making its way to London.

But then the trail went quiet. There was still no sign of any parcel showing up.

All this was too much for Claire. She told Raw Deal that she recently suffered a mild heart attack and continues to suffer anxiety attacks. Making all these phone calls was very stressful for her.

And she hadn’t heard from either of the companies – still blaming each other – for six weeks.

We approached both carrier firms to see what had happened.

And, in truth, we didn’t ever manage to unravel a satisfacto­ry answer! But it didn’t matter because the parcel was eventually found. Who knows where it has been for the several months since it was posted.

Claire contacted us and said: “I just wanted to say thanks very much for helping with my missing parcel. They have now found the parcel and returned it. Much appreciate­d, this wouldn’t have happened without you. I was getting nowhere and no one would talk to me.”

All’s well that ends well.
