BRECHIN CITY and Livingston shared the spoils after a pulsating 2-2 encounter.

City found themselves two goals down at half-time but their second-half fightback earned them the point which delighted manager Darren Dods.

“We were disappointed to go in at the break two goals down and Livi scoring their second goal just a minute before the break was a real sickener,” Dods said.

“However, the players’ workrate and commitment in the second half was absolutely tremendous.

“And two great finishes put us right back in the match.

“Livi, with their height advantage, put us under pressure in the closing stages but we defended really well and were well worth our point.”

The early stages were fairly even but the visitors made the vital breakthrough.

Dylan Mackin picked up a loose ball in the box to fire the ball home in the 25th minute.

And they made it 2-0 just a minute before half-time when Alan Lithgow crossed into the box for Scott Pittman, who coolly sidefooted the ball past Graeme Smith in the City goal.

However, it was the Glebe Park side who began to force the pace early in the opening moments of the second period.

After nipping past defender Alan Lithgow, Kalvin Orsi fired home a beauty from the edge of the box to reduce the deficit, nine minutes into the second period.

The goal gave the home side a boost and Brechin continued to press the Livi rearguard.

It was no real surprise when they deservedly levelled the match, seven minutes later.

Andy Jackson collected the ball wide on the left and crossed into the box for Finn Graham, who delightfully swept the ball past Neil Alexander in the Livi goal.

After the match, Livi boss David Hopkins couldn’t hide his disappointment as he said: “Despite being two goals up at half-time I was really disappointed in the way we had played and two schoolboy errors in the secondhalf cost us three the points.”
