It’s time to look on the Bryght side

- By Reg Moore SELECTIONS

BRYGHT BOY has had to be patient for his winning chance to emerge. It’s to Ffos Las that he heads today, seeking a big breakthrough.

The four-year-old is completely exposed, racing off a mark of 60 this afternoon. But he did take a big step forward last time out at Lingfield.

That was on rain-softened ground, when he could not quite peg back Arctic Flower. But three subsequent victories for that winner surely mark Bryght Boy up.

There is sure to be cut in the ground today, and it’s interesting that the selection was taken out at Yarmouth 10 days after that run, where it was good-to-firm.

The three-year-old Born To Please gets into the onemile fillies’ handicap with a feather weight, and she will relish the return to this trip.

Two runs ago, she won by a length from Dragon Dream, despite a wide draw over the mile at Sandown with regular partner Nicola Currie aboard.

Her young pilot dropped her whip late on in her last start at Brighton, but her defeat would have had more to do with stepping up to 10 furlongs.

Rolling Maul’s purple patch on the flat will stop sometime and today may be the day, after Peter Bowen’s stayer has rattled up a hat-trick and is 12lb higher.

Andrew Balding’s Look My Way is 6lb better for being third, beaten two-and-a-half lengths last time, and that might be enough for revenge.
