TWO goals from Kevin Ellison earned Morecambe only their second victory of the season.

Jim Bentley’s side had been without a win since the opening day of the season, but a brace from the veteran was enough to give them three points.

Morecambe took the lead in the 34th minute, with Ellison scoring his third goal in four games. Elliot Osborne earned the assist with a shot from the edge of the box that was superbly saved by Joe Day, but the ball fell to Ellison who slammed home the rebound.

The lead lasted only one minute as the Exiles pulled a goal back almost immediately, as Scot Bennett stabbed home Mickey Demetriou’s cross.

Day produced a brilliant save from Adam McGurk’s header, but Ellison had the final word nine minutes from time when he diverted Adam Campbell’s longrange shot into the top corner.

Carlisle denied Barnet an away win when Shaun Miller struck with a spectacular late leveller to make it 1-1 after an even contest at Brunton Park.

The Bees had led from early on when Jean Louis Akpa Akpro netted, but Carlisle stuck to their task despite making it five games without a maximum haul in League Two.

A late strike from Mallik Wilks gave Accrington a 2-1 victory at Chesterfield, who not long after the defeat sacked manager Gary Caldwell.

Billy Kee fired Accrington ahead after Bradley Barry was sent off and although Kristian Dennis equalised from the spot, Wilks won it eight minutes from time.

Leaders Exeter claimed a sixth straight win as they beat Crewe 3-0, while Lincoln lost a home match for the first time in a year as local rivals Mansfield nicked a 1-0 success, with sub Danny Rose heading in.
