Can you please tell me just how old the sun is? –I.

The Sunday Post (Dundee) - - Advice -

It’s around 4.5 billion years old.

But don’t worry, there’s a lot of life left in the sun, and it probably won’t die for another five billion years.

When that happens, it will be very different to how we see it today.

It will get much larger, but cooler, and will be around 2000 times brighter, becoming what is known as a red giant, when it will explode into nothingness.
