Impressive Accrington continued their chase for automatic promotion with their third win on the bounce by beating Coventry 2-0.

Stanley moved into second place with their seventh win in their last eight games.

Jordan Clark bagged a goal either side of the break at the Ricoh Arena to condemn Coventry to their second successive defeat.

His first was simple as he tapped home unmarked after Callum Johnson found him from the right-hand side.

And the pair repeated the trick on the hour to put the game to bed and seal a vital three points.

Billy Kee also struck a post with a free-kick as Stanley proved worthy winners against Mark Robins’ side.

Carlisle hit back with a second-half, 25-yard free-kick from Jamie Devitt, his third goal in the last three games, to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw against Colchester.

Courtney Senior gave the visitors a first-half lead and although the Cumbrians came back after the break, it was a result which all but put an end to their play-off hopes.

Mikael Mandron nearly snatched all three points for the U’s late on with a shot which thumped against a post with goalkeeper Jack Bonham beaten.

Relegation-threatened Crewe lacked quality in the final third as they had to settle for a goalless draw with Yeovil.

Danny Newton’s late equaliser denied leaders Luton the chance to stretch their lead at the top to eight points as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Stevenage.

Meanwhile, lowly Barnet gave their survival hopes a boost by beating promotion-chasing Notts County 1-0 thanks to Alex Nicholls’ last-gasp goal.
