Kilmarnock:

- By Brian Fowlie sport@sundaypost.com

Brora Rangers boss Ross Tokely was gutted that his Highland heroes couldn’t beat the clock at Rugby Park.

His men looked like giving their Premiership opponents an uncomfortable half-time until Greg Kiltie strode forward to set up Aaron Tshibola for the opening goal.

It was the first time they had conceded a goal in 402 minutes of Scottish Cup action.

Had they held out until the break then maybe, just maybe, they’d have taken Killie back up to Dudgeon Park for a replay.

However, the history of this competition is littered with ifs, buts and maybes.

Tokely had played against Kilmarnock during his time as an Inverness Caley player, so staring up at the electronic scoreboard was nothing new to him. He said: “I was watching the clock. “I remember seeing it when I played here in the past and the clock’s not good.

“We don’t have clocks in the Highland League.

“We worked so hard to keep them at bay and got to 42 minutes until they scored a really good goal.

“Our game plan was to frustrate them and our keeper didn’t have a save to make until they scored.

“It’s a bit devastating to go in 1-0 behind at half-time.

“We were a bit deflated then, but I thought we competed really well for the whole of the game without really creating the chances I wanted.”
