There was no issue with finding this wellestablished Italian eatery as it is slap bang in the middle of the high street. It has a classic Italian restaurant feel about it and is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside, stretching well into the back. Recently renovated, it’s really classy-looking with lots of comfy booths to choose from. Right on the money from the moment we walked it. There was a friendly greeting from the Italian staff and they made us feel like regulars, even though it was our first visit. There’s an extensive choice but it’s well sectioned and therefore easy to navigate between hot and cold starters, sides, mains, pizzas, pastas and desserts. We had a lovely platter of Italian cured meats and the lasagne was a sizzling, generouslyportioned treat. There’s a good value early evening deal with two courses for a tenner. Pasta and pizzas around the £10 mark and mains around £15 when chosen from the a la carte menu. The bill for a sharing platter of meats and two mains with soft drinks was under £40, so decent value. Initially quiet on a midweek early evening, but we felt comfortably at home as other diners drifted in. The bersagliera, with the penne replaced by tagliatelle on request, was excellent, just the right side of tangy. Small, but clean and with high-quality hand washes. A really classy and welcoming option that won’t break the bank. 16/20
