EAST KILBRIDE lifted their first trophy this term with a 4-1 win over East of Scotland side LOTHIAN THISTLE HV in the Football Nation Qualifying Cup Final. It was manager Billy Stark’s first silver since taking over at Kilby. He said: “I’m delighted we got the result and picked up the cup. We got two early goals as we started well and it made a big difference.” Kilby hit two goals in the first 10 minutes through Declan Hughes and a header from Sean Winter before Thistle could settle. Ross Mcneil added a third in the 38th minute. Thistle’s Lewis Swanson pulled one back in the 53rd minute. With 10 minutes left, Sean Winter scored No. 4 from a penalty.

In the league, SPARTANS moved top by a point, but had to settle for a 2-2 draw against EAST STIRLINGSH­IRE. Paul Sludden equalised for Shire in 55 minutes after Jamie Dishington put Spartans ahead on 41 minutes. With two minutes left, Spartans looked to have edged it when Jason Steven made it 2-1 for them, but, deep into stoppage time, Derek Ure salvaged a point for Shire.

GALA FAIRYDEAN ROVERS kept up their improving run with 1-0 win over relegated HAWICK ROYAL ALBERT thanks to a Fraser Malcolm 65th-minute strike.

SELKIRK had to share the points in a 2-2 draw with DALBEATTIE STAR after they went ahead with a Jordan Hopkinson goal in seven minutes, but Star equalised in 59 minutes with a Liam Park goal. Six minutes later, they took the lead through Scott Milligan, but, in the 75th minute, the Souters levelled with a Dale Baxter goal.

CUMBERNAUL­D COLTS beat GRETNA 2008 5-2 after going into a 3-0 lead after 30 minutes with a brace from Jeff Fergus in three and 29 minutes and a third from Gavin Lachlan inbetween. Thomas Padroni and Liam Studholme scored two for Gretna in the space of three minutes to make it 3-2 at the turn. In the second half, Michael Wallace and Andy Hunter made sure of victory for Colts.

VALE OF LEITHEN got a narrow 1-0 win over WHITEHALL WELFARE in the quarter-finals of the South Regional Cup thanks to a 16th-minute goal from Sean Stewart. Welfare’s Craig Reid was sent off late on.

EDUSPORT ACADEMY were 3-0 winners over THREAVE ROVERS, with goals from Thomas Garnier, Loix Chevroix and a penalty from David Sinclair.

Jake Smith hit four goals in a devastatin­g eight minutes for BSC GLASGOW as they trounced GLASGOW UNI 6-0.
