champions league

Most people think that the dream Champions League semi-final draw for Liverpool is to land Roma.

They may well be right, and it is best to avoid Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

However, I won’t be underestimating the Italian side. That would be very foolish.

They showed tremendous ability, patience, courage and determination to defeat Barcelona in midweek.

So how could anyone possibly regard this is a straightforward tie for Jurgen Klopp’s side?

But over two legs, I think this Liverpool team is very capable of reaching the final.

They have quality players all over the pitch and a few match-winners.

Roberto Firmino has been brilliant recently, and put in another top display in midweek against Manchester City.

Mo Salah (above) was outstanding once again, and he has been a real bargain at a fee of around £35m.

It’s turned out to be a great piece of business to get him from Roma early last summer.

The transfer market went crazy a week or two later, and prices were going up millions by the day.

Yes, wonderful business by the club.

And I’d sooner have him in the Liverpool side than the opposition for the semi-finals!
