It might be even better than the first one, they know their audience so well

Abba singers Agnetha and Anna-frid may not have been in the queue for tickets but two special guests were first in line.

Leona Marie Skimming and Kerry Burley from Abba A Rival, one of the country’s leading tribute acts to the Swedish pop giants, saw the movie on Friday, at Glasgow’s Grosvenor Cinema.

“I was so impressed!” said Agnetha – also known as Leona.

“If anything it’s even better than the first film. It’s much more slick.

“This one includes my favourite Abba song I’ve Been Waiting For You. In the film that song is sung by a character to her daughter but I love it because it reminds me of my grandparents.

“My grandma and grandad are the reason I sing, and hearing the song made me quite emotional.

“It’s a great film for mums and

daughters. They really know their audience.”

The sequel also hit all the right notes for Kerry, alter ego of Anna-frid.

“This one starts off on a real downer – I’m not a big crier but was weeping almost straight away,” she said.

“The film flashes back to 1979 and you get a bit of background for the three guys from the first film. "It's so lovely to see, and the young actress who plays Meryl Streep is brilliant. The cast all sing really well and there aren't any burn notes- and then Cher appears and blows everyone away. You can tell she's a proper singer. `I'd advise you to take mum, gran and any female relatives. "There were a few dads with daughters - they loved it."
