One dead in horror Highland road crash

-

A man died in a horrific car crash in the Highlands yesterday.

The accident, involving a Ford Focus car and a Mitsubishi 4x4 towing a horse box, happened on the A832 between Tore and Munlochy on the Black Isle, North of Inverness, at 8.40am.

Police closed the road and diversions were put in place.

Police Scotland refused to reveal any information yesterday afternoon other than the timing of the accident.

It is believed there were other casualties.

The road was closed while emergency crews dealt with the smash and locals were urged to avoid the area as a result.

A vet was called to the scene but it is believed no horses were injured.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire Service said two appliances were despatched to the crash and up to two vehicles were involved in the incident.

It is the second fatal accident connected to the road within a week.

On Thursday, motorcyclist James Stead, 50, from Evanton, Easter Ross, died after a crash involving a car.

The incident happened at about 2.30pm on the A835, just north of its junction with the A832 at Corrieshalloch Gorge.

Police Scotland closed the road for several hours to allow for an investigation.
