Livingston player-manager Kenny Miller is already plotting Celtic’s downfall after leading Livi to the League Cup knockout stages following yesterday’s victory over Berwick Rangers at Prestonfield in Linlithgow.

“We were totally dominant. Four or five goals would have been nice, but it’s another clean sheet, another three points and we finish top,” said Miller.

“We know Celtic inside-out and we know what they’re going to do against us. The question is: can we stop them? They offer multiple threats, but we now have a full week to get prepared for them.

“Any success this season will be based on hard work.

“We should have one or two of our injured players available again on Saturday, but we’re still low on numbers in a few positions. It’s easy to get bodies in, but we want them to be the right players.”

An early goal from striker Jack Hamilton and a late one from substitute Jack Mcmillan completed a routine win over one of the weakest teams in the Scottish League, but they will next face the strongest when they make their return to the top flight at Celtic Park on Saturday.

Maclean’s cross into the net.

Mchugh turned provider just two minutes later with a neat back-heel to find Connor Bell who marked his debut with a brilliant finish from just inside the box.

Mchugh went close again on either side of the break as Morton assumed complete control.

The clincher duly arrived when the lively Mchugh was upended in the box by Bryan Wharton, who was booked before Michael Tidser converted the spot-kick.

Within a minute, home fans were celebrating again as young sub Ben Armour raced through to net his first goal for the club.

It got better still for Ton when man-of-the-match Tidser waltzed round Hallford to claim a second.

Ayr boss Ian Mccall lavished praise on his side after goals from the prolific strike partners Michael Moffat and Lawrence Shankland clinched Group E and left Thistle sweating on the outcome of today’s Hearts v Inverness CT clash.

Mccall, a former Jags manager, declared: “Some of our football was excellent. We didn’t have a lot of possession, but they didn’t have as many chances as us.”

A dreadful blunder by Christie Elliott handed the Honest Men an early opener, his hesitation allowing Moffat to nip in to net.

They almost doubled the lead when Shankland rippled the outside of the net.

Shankland then set up Moffat and only a great one-hand save by Cammy Bell prevented him doubling the score.

The visitors sealed victory with a brilliant Shankland goal. The in-form striker pounced on a loose ball around 35 yards out before craftily lofting a first-time effort that Bell could only watch as it looped over his head and in.

Cove produced an impressive display to upset Riath.

John Sheran’s side took the lead after nine minutes. Mitch Megginson got clear of his opposite marker and struck the post, but Daniel Park guided the ball into an empty net.

Cove almost doubled their advantage on 23 minutes with a free-kick by Jamie Masson hitting the side netting.

Raith responded with a long range strike from Lewis Milne that flew wide.

Ross Matthews tried his luck for the Kirkcaldy outfit with an effort from 12 yards that was blocked superbly by Milne.

After the turnaround, a Lewis Milne corner gets deep into the box and Cove clear before Kevin Nisbet eventually fired over the cross bar.

Cove made it 2-0 on 76 minutes. Keeper Sam Mcguff spilled the ball out of his hands and Jamie Masson was there to guide the ball into an open net.

Raith’s Liam Buchanan missed a late spot-kick.
