The East of Scotland Qualifying League got off to a terrific start for BLACKBURN UNITED, who won their first game as a senior club 7-0 at ARNISTON RANGERS. Darren Downie scored twice in each half, with Bain scoring a brace and Richie Hutton also finding the net to

send Blackburn to the top of Section A. The other game in the group was also a high-scoring affair, with TRANENT seeing off HAWICK ROYAL ALBERT 5-0.

EASTHOUSES LILY top Section B after a 3-0 success at ORMISTON, with Graeme Young hitting a brace and Craig Beattie also finding the net. LOTHIAN THISTLE HUTCHISON VALE sit second after a 2-0 success at TWEEDMOUTH.

Aaron Sommervill­e hit a hat-trick as PENICUIK ATHLETIC started their Section C campaign with a 3-0 win over former fellow-juniors SAUCHIE. LINLITHGOW ROSE drew 1-1 at CROSSGATES.

HADDINGTON romped into a four-goal lead at COLDSTREAM before having to settle for a 5-3 Section D success. Jordan Cropley’s penalty was added to by two goals from Scott Moffat and a counter from Declan Quinn before Bailey Paterson’s double brought the hosts alive. Andy Jones took Haddington three goals clear before Krissy Dixon pulled another goal back. Also in Section D, DALKIETH THISTLE got the better of HERIOT-WATT UNIVERSITY 1-0.

James Flynn scored EDINBURGH UNITED’S first-ever senior goal as they defeated EYEMOUTH 7-1. Section E rivals CAMELON defeated DUNBAR 5-2, with Kieran Anderson helping himself to a double.

BONNYRIGG ROSE top Section F after a 5-1 win over STIRLING UNIVERSITY, where Lee Currie, Adam nelson, Kieran Mcgachie, Neil Martyniuk and Keith Lough netted.

George Hunter scored four times as NEWTONGRAN­GE STAR defeated CRAIGROYST­ON 6-0 to sit at the summit of Section G.

DUNIPACE top Section H after their 3-0 win at BURNTISLAN­D.

Jeanfield Swifts won 2-0 at BONESS in Section I. ST ANDREWS won the only game in Section J with a 4-1 defeat over TYNECASTLE.
