Arbroath are stunned by late equaliser

-

Dumbarton 1 arbroath 1 Dumbarton – Forbes (90+1); Arbroath – Linn (26)

A last-gasp equaliser by Ross Forbes denied Arbroath all three points at Dumbarton.

Dumbarton were on top early on and Stuart Carswell forced two fine saves from the keeper, while Michael Paton’s headed goal was ruled offside, before the visitors’ Jason Thomson headed the ball wide.

Then Bobby Linn got away from the defence on the edge of the area and smashed the ball home.

Chances were at a premium in the second half, although Ryan Thomson was close for Sons, while Grant Adam saved from Omar Kader at close range.

But, with the final whistle looming, Forbes latched on to Bobby Barr’s assist and thrashed home the equaliser for the Sons.

raith rovers 2 east FIFE 2 Raith – Nisbet (pens 9, 74); East Fife – Agnew (pen 26, 65)

Raith went in front from a penalty, Kevin Nisbet was fouled by Aaron Dunsmore and his spot-kick beat keeper Brett Long.

East Fife were awarded a penalty after 27 minutes when Euan Murray brought down Jonathan Court and Scott Agnew equalised from the spot.

Raith were almost back in front immediately, but Nathan Flanagan’s shot was a foot high.

East Fife moved in front midway through the second half when Raith failed to clear their lines and Agnew lashed home an unstoppable shot.

But Raith were awarded a second penalty 16 minutes from time when Ross Dunlop handled and Nisbet drilled home his second spot-kick of the day.

stenhousemuir 1 airdrieonians 2 Stenhousemuir – Cook (44); Airdrieonians – Conroy (42, 55)

Airdrieonians’ Scott Robertson was sent off for a tackle on Alan Cook in the 12th minute.

As the first half progressed, the hosts began to take a grip, but they were denied on numerous occasions by David Hutton, who made top-class saves.

Airdrie took the lead in the 42nd minute when a pinpoint cross by Kieran Macdonald was met by Ryan Conroy, who steered his header into the corner of the net.

However, soon after, Alan Cook scored for Stenhousemuir with a strike that deflected past Hutton.

Airdrie took the lead once again with another Conroy goal after he capitalised on sloppy defending.

In stoppage time, Hutton denied Colin Mcmenamin with a stunning save to secure all three points for the Diamonds.

Forfar 0 stranraer 0

The game sprang to life after 15 minutes when Stranraer’s Grant Anderson rattled Forfar’s post with a good a strike.

Moments later, Dale Hilson lobbed the visiting keeper at the other end, but the ball just slid on to the top of the net.

Hilson again went close with a 20-yard free-kick that was inches past Max Currie’s post.

On the stroke of half-time, David Brownlie should have put Stranraer ahead, but somehow he nodded his free header at the back post wide of target.

The second half was just as finely balanced, although Stranraer’s Grant Anderson flashed a volley inches over.

In stoppage time, Dylan Easton was crowded out before he could snatch a late winner.

Montrose 2 BRECHIN 1 Montrose – Henderson (4), Campbell (pen 15); Brechin – Melingui (35)

Montrose opened the scoring in four minutes. Ross Campbell crossed from the right and Euan Henderson hit the crossbar before forcing the rebound home from close range.

It was 2-0 on 15 minutes. Henderson was brought down just inside the box by Euan Smith and a penalty was awarded on the advice of a linesman. Ross Campbell netted from the spot.

Brechin gave themselves hope in 35 minutes, Andy Jackson’s cross being nodded in by Boris Melingui. But it should have been 2-2 in 42 minutes when Jordan Sinclair shot wide when he seemed certain to score.

A minute from the break, Chris Antoniazzi had a shot turned away by Connor Brennan.

Brechin started well in the second half and Melingui headed wide unchallenged.

Montrose had chances to clinch the points and Brennan saved with his feet from Martin Rennie, then saved well from Terry Masson.
