Mcallister strike gives Blue Toon the points

Peterhead’s Rory Mcallister had the first chance, but his second-minute six-yard effort was mishit and easily gathered by Blair Currie.

After Clyde’s David Goodwillie was fouled 22 yards out, Jordan Stewart sent the free-kick wide.

Soon after, Chris Mcstay did the same from a similar distance.

The Blue Toon started the second half strongly and a Willie Gibson cross fell to Scott Brown but he skied over.

The winner came when Derek Lyle slipped a slide-rule pass forward into the path of top scorer Mcallister. He kept his cool and his balance before slipping his shot past Currie.

No goals in the first half, but the game sprung to life seconds into the second half with all four goals in six minutes.

A minute after the re-start, Annan’s Tommy Muir shot home from seven yards, but Queen’s went straight up the park and Smart Osadolor hit a left-foot shot low past Alex Mitchell.

Soon after, the hosts were 2-1 up when Ryan Sinnamon netted from 18 yards and Aiden Smith quickly headed in No. 3.

Edinburgh City dominated the first half, but were unable to break the deadlock, even after the award of a penalty in 32 minutes after Lee Hamilton had fouled Danny Handling. Blair Henderson squandered the chance, his spot-kick being saved by keeper Calum Ferrie.

The hosts finally forged ahead two minutes into the second half with their second penalty of the afternoon, Scott Shepherd converting the award after having been impeded by Kyle Banner.

Mark Stewart pulled one back for Stirling shortly after, but Edinburgh’s lead was restored with a Balatoni header.

They secured the points 19 minutes from time when Handling’s shot was deflected past Ferrie by Stirling defender Jordan Allan.

Cowden led when Jordyn Sheerin made it three goals in three games with a header. Soon after, Martin Scott headed No. 2.

In 66 minutes, it was 3-0 when Smith’s shot was blocked and Scullion blasted the ball past the keeper from 10 yards. Two minutes on, Robbie Buchanan cleverly curled a left-foot 12-yarder wide of Brennan for the fourth.

Late on, Cowden’s Kyle Miller was redcarded for throwing a punch, and Berwick’s Wilson was also sent off for a second yellow.

In the first half, Elgin’s Chris Mcleish went close, while Albion’s Lewis Mclear rifled in a low effort that was blocked.

The referee awarded a penalty in firsthalf injury-time as Eley fouled Mcleish, but the linesman over-ruled his division.

A mistake by skipper Bryan Wharton allowed Sutherland to run clear through on goal to set up Mcleish for a tap-in.
