Woman steals coat on her way to court

A thief was jailed last week after stealing a coat on the way to court to face shoplifting charges.

Darlene Mullen, 26, stole the jacket from Primark when she was on her way to Perth Sheriff Court to be sentenced for other shoplifting offences.

When she appeared in court on Thursday, her defence solicitor David Holmes asked for her to be spared jail as she was “on the right track”.

But Sheriff Lindsay Foulis jailed her for 90 days and said: “She stopped off on her way here to steal a coat from Primark. You can hardly tell me that is her being on the right track.”
