Shame on louts leaving mountains of rubbish

£25 STAR LETTER

-

It is appalling that hills including Ben Nevis have so much litter strewn around them.

Praise to the volunteers who kindly dedicated their time to scouring Ben Nevis, Goat Fell and Ben Lomond.

Volunteers collected nearly 375lb of items from slopes around the country.

Shame on those who litter popular hillwalking destinations. They are selfish and should take their rubbish home to dispose of properly.

The volunteers did a fantastic job clearing up our beauty spots.

June Fleming, Musselburgh

1944 and on to Belgium and Holland. Having answered a call for volunteers to the Far East, I was posted to Burma to join the West African Forces.

I continued to accompany them on their return to Nigeria where I served another two-and-a-half years before demob.

I was proud of my country then as a democracy, which I hope it will remain.

I always assumed our MPS were all democrats, but not so. The emergence of the Remainers shows us that a considerable number are anti-democracy.

Let us hope we still have the power, purpose and ability to decide the future of our country as we did victoriously in two World Wars.
