Can you tell me much about Nanny Mcphee? – V.

Script-writing is a laborious and time-consuming process for Emma Thompson.

She spent five years honing Sense And Sensibility’s Oscar-winning screenplay.

Nanny Mcphee, adapted from Christianna Brand’s Nurse Matilda books, took four years longer, while causing even more “blood, sweat and tears”.

“It’s so multi-layered,” explained the actress. “Drama, comedy, physical comedy, farce, spookiness.”

Wearing prosthetics for the first time, Angela Lansbury, as Great Aunt Adelaide Stitch, was given a huge, false nose and striking grey hair.
