SOME CYPRIOT DELIGHT

-

Former Ayr United and Stranraer manager, Brian Reid, reckons that Steven Pressley’s time in charge of Cypriot side Pafos FC should be viewed as a success, despite the former Scotland defender being sacked just four games into the new season.

Reid, who was Pressley’s assistant during an eight-month stint at Pafos, reckons that the former Falkirk manager actually did well to survive that long as Cypriot football is so cut-throat.

The duo were axed last week and Reid said: “It was obviously disappointing not to get longer. However, for a foreign manager to get as far along as Steven (above) did was a success.

“We saved them from relegation and were immediately tasked with challenging for the title.

“As with a lot of European clubs you are working with players you have not signed and with owners who hire and fire easily.

“To get as long as we did and have the satisfaction of saving Pafos from a relegation is actually good going.”
