sir KENNY ON...
David Moyes caused a bit of a stir down in England last week when he said the standard of football in the EPL isn’t as high as it was 15-20 years ago, or even as far back as the Liverpool team I was fortunate enough to manage in the late ’80s.
It’s very kind of David to be so complimentary of that team, especially with him being a former Everton manager.
But it only reaffirms what everyone knows – that David a really nice fella and knows his football.
This kind of debate comes around every now and again and it is purely down to personal opinion. It is not factual.
All I can say is that was a pleasure to manage Rush, Barnes, Molby, Beardsley, Hansen and the rest.
They were all brilliant individual players but, more importantly, they were excellent as a team. That’s why they were so successful.
In today’s football, I must stress that I love watching this current Liverpool team.
Jurgen Klopp is the right manager for the club and he is taking it in the right direction. He is truly appreciated by one and all at Anfield.
Is my team of the ’ 80s better than Klopp’s side?
Well, I think my team would struggle to keep up with Klopp’s players . . . but the lads I had are all over 55 now!
